This month was actually quite busy, despite the lower audition count.

First off, I was lucky enough to spend a few days at Wortley Hall taking part in the Political Education and Organisation training course hosted by the Actor's Union Equity. I mentioned the course very briefly in my first post, but it probably warrants a propper write up at some point. My involvement within Equity has always been fairly limited, but this was the impetus I needed to figure out my place, not only in Equity, but in the larger trade union movement as a whole. I became aware that I didn't need to be in the top 1% of working actors to contribute meaningfully, and that my skills and experiences already have merit. What exactly my contributions looks like, I'm not sure, but involvement in making the industry a better one for those involved has become a commitment I feel more equipped to handle.

I've already heard back from this months auditions and, sadly, none have been taken any further. That being said, I have seen some much anticipated forward momentum. I finally finished my audiobook sample reel and am close to finishing my voice-over commercial reel, which should help immensely with this year's goal of getting a voice-over agent. I've also been added to the performer databases for a couple of established production companies, so fingers crossed for some oppertunities there.

This month has also seen a lot of preparation. The major audition I mentioned in the Now page is coming up in the next few days, and fortunately I've been able to give it the time that it requires. Whilst I do feel confident that the audition will go well, the nerves are still very much there. Part of the trouble when it comes to auditions is when you feel you're right for a role, when you really want the job, you end up piling on this unintended pressure, which can so easily get in the way of doing your best work. I guess time will tell.

There are lots of plates spinning at the moment. Exciting, nervewracking, wonderful plates, but plates none the less. Prone to cracks, shattering into a million pieces if dropped. I'm sure next month is going to give me a LOT to write about...
